Draft a quarterback late.

The third most important key is to draft a quarterback in the later rounds. Because Drew Brees is coming back, Teddy Bridgewater is likely going to leave the New Orleans Saints during the free agency period.

That means that the Saints will be down a backup quarterback. Who better to fill that role than a young guy trying to learn from a future Hall-of-Fame mentor. Drew Brees would be able to take a draftee and teach them for a couple of years.

We still do not know how long Brees will sign back for, but this rookie could also potentially be the next in line for the New Orleans Saints at the wheel of the ship. This pick will be important, but it is even more important that they plan for the now first.

That is why this pick has to come in the later rounds. The present-day is the most important, then focus on obtaining a quarterback that you could potentially see handing the franchise over to one day in the near future.
