3 reasons the New Orleans Saints should trade for Marquise Goodwin

No. 3: Goodwin will bring a strong veteran presence
Marquise Goodwin would bring a strong veteran presence to a New Orleans offense that could use a veteran at the position. The Saints will likely be bringing on some rookies through the draft and having a mentor like Goodwin to help transition to the NFL could be beneficial.
Goodwin was a third-round pick back in 2013 by the Buffalo Bills and played in Buffalo from 2013 through 2016. After leaving Buffalo, he joined the San Francisco 49ers where he’s been at since 2017.
Adding Goodwin to help drive competitiveness, mentor young players, and take the top off defenses would prove to be extremely beneficial. Goodwin isn’t owed much money and could be a great No. 2 or No. 3 receiver for the Saints who are in desperate need of sure hands and stellar speed on offense.
Goodwin could also directly help mentor last season’s rookie phenom Deonte Harris. Harris and Goodwin are both short and speedy wide receivers; Harris standing at 5-foot-6 and Goodwin standing at 5-foot-9.
Harris being able to learn from a veteran who isn’t the tallest receiver who came into the league as primarily a returner could help turn Deonte Harris into a Tyreek Hill type of player for the Saints. It’s wishful thinking but makes sense.
