New Orleans Saints: Top 3 players in team history to wear No. 10

New Orleans Saints have no shortage of No. 10s in their franchise history.
It won’t be too much longer before a young receiver named Tre’Quan Smith could crack the top three on this list. For now, at least, here are the top three players in New Orleans Saints history to sport the number ten.
Number One: Brandin Cooks
Brandin Cooks is a wide receiver that was selected in the first round back in 2014 after a stellar college career at Oregon State where he became a consensus All-American, broke numerous college records, and came home with the Fred Biletnikoff Award given to the best receiver in college football.
Cooks ended his collegiate career with 226 receptions for 3,272 yards, and 24 receiving touchdowns. He then played with the New Orleans Saints from 2014 until 2016 and had a productive career in the black and gold, arguably the most productive Cooks has ever been.
In that three-year span, Cooks hauled in 215 receptions for 2,861 yards while scoring 21 total touchdowns. Going into the 2015 season, Cooks was listed as the top receiving option on the Saints, and he made it well known too, leading the team in receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns.
In 2016, Cooks’ 10.0 average per target ranked sixth-best in the entire NFL. Although Cooks only spent three seasons with the New Orleans Saints, his impact is still felt as he was dealt prior to the 2017 season for a first-round draft pick that was used to draft first-team All-Pro offensive tackle Ryan Ramczyk.
His two consecutive 1,000-yard seasons and lasting impact on the New Orleans Saints is why he is currently the best player to wear the number ten in Saints history.
