New Orleans Saints: 6 free agents that could turn into extra draft picks

Teddy Bridgewater
Current contract: $7.25 million
Projected free agency contract: $21 million
Compensatory Draft pick: 3rd round pick
Current Replacement: none (Taysom Hill, RFA)
Teddy Bridgewater came to the New Orleans Saints after an injury got him replaced and released from the Minnesota Vikings in 2017. Bridgewater joined the Saints in 2018 on a one year contract, and then again in 2019 with another one-year contract.
However, this year, he got his chance to shine and show what he really has. Drew Brees went down in week 2 with a thumb injury that required surgery, and Bridgewater took full advantage of that going 5-0 in his starts and throwing for over 1,3000 yards and nine touchdowns.
Back in Minnesota, Bridgewater was the next up and coming star quarterback before he got injured. Now, teams are seeing that potential again. It is not out of reach for Bridgewater to demand upwards of $22-25 million to be a starting quarterback.

Drew Brees has already stated that he would either sign back with the team or retire. Therefore, he wouldn’t provide the Saints with any compensatory picks. Obviously these would cancel out based on free agents the New Orleans Saints sign as well.
