Skilled coaching

Sean Payton is among the best in the business.

While he’s certainly been out-coached before, Payton had the Saints in position to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl until that notorious non-pass interference call last season. He has the skill to get the team into a similar position this season.

With Pete Carmichael, the Saints’ offensive coordinator who has been with the team for 11 years, New Orleans should have no trouble breaking down defenses. Carmichael has been doing it for over a decade, most of which has been spent with Drew Brees leading the charge.

The bulk of New Orleans’ success will lie on Dennis Allen. His staff will be forced to tame beasts like Russell Wilson and Aaron Rodgers. The success of the defense will be what matters in the bulk of the Saints’ playoff matchups.

Elite coaching with a high-octane offense and above-average defense is a recipe for success, and that’s exactly what the New Orleans Saints should find this postseason.
