A capable defense

The New Orleans Saints secondary has been a key part of the team’s success this season. Marshon Lattimore, Vonn Bell and Marcus Williams, while only Lattimore made the Pro Bowl, were all Pro Bowl-worthy players.

The team’s only weak link is their secondary depth.

Eli Apple has had some above-average games this season where he looks like a lockdown corner, and he’s been absolutely lit up so it’d difficult to rely on him often. However, knowing that, Sean Payton brought in Janoris Jenkins.

Once healthy, the linebacking corp, led by A.J. Klein and Kiko Alonso, will be elite. On the outside is Demario Davis, and he’s been a Pro Bowl-caliber OLB all season as well. Those three will dominate the middle of the field.

That said, another important aspect will the pass rush. Led by Cam Jordan, the Saints have the fourth-most sacks in the NFL. However, the absence of Sheldon Rankins and Marcus Davenport will be crucial.

The three units combined will produce a quality product, and the Saints defense will certainly be capable of stopping high-octane offenses.
