New Orleans Saints: 1 historical stud, 2 other studs in Monday Night win

Chauncey Gardner-Johnson
The talk surrounding the game against the 49ers was the lack of talent from the defense. We needed someone to step up and play at a big-time level. After Jimmy G from San Francisco exposed Eli Apple for a lackluster cornerback, changes were needed.
C.J. Garnder-Johnson stepped up to that level for the New Orleans Saints on Monday night. He finished with 8 total tackles (six of them being solo) — most on the team, two tackles for a loss — most on the team, and one pass defended.

Gardner-Johnson is not going to be in the running for Defensive Player of the Year, but he most definitely deserves to be part of the talk among rookies. CGJ has been quality level talent all year long and will continue to be for years to come.
With the defense seemingly getting stronger and back to health, the Saints are looking to regain the No. 1 seed that they lost with the loss last week to the 49ers. They will need to win out so this demolish of the Indianapolis Colts helped their chances.
Let’s just hope CGJ has no more boneheaded third-and-long penalties and he’ll be one of the key defenders going into what could be a Super Bowl run this postseason.

Next week, the Saints will travel to Tennessee to play the 8-6 Titans.
