Positional Changes

The New Orleans Saints’ secondary needs a shake-up — majorly!

Bomb and bomb, Jimmy Garoppolo tore up the cornerbacks and safeties last Sunday. They made a mediocre quarterback look like Tom Brady. Therefore, some adjustments are going to need to be made in order to bolster the play of the defense.

Out of the top 10 worst graded Saints against the 49ers, the entire secondary is on the list, except Marshon Lattimore — Apple, M. Williams, Gardner-Johnson, P. Williams.

Let’s face the facts, Eli Apple got eaten alive by Garoppolo and the 49ers.

They were playing the “throw it to whoever Eli Apple is covering” offense. Unfortunately, it worked almost the entire game. I’ll admit, Apple has had his “here and there” highlights this year, but he has shown to reason to give him a contract extension.

The only other cornerback to not make that list was Patrick Robinson. I think it is time that Eli Apple takes a back seat to Robinson. It can not get any worse than it already is. Therefore, this is worth a try.

Robinson has more experience and would bring a veteran presence to the covering core of the New Orleans Saints.
