New Orleans Saints: 2 studs, 1 dud in stunning loss to San Francisco 49ers

Stud No. 1 – Drew Brees
This one is obvious.
Drew Brees and Sean Payton found a way to outsmart the NFL’s best defense. Drew Brees came out of the gate firing on the first possession when he hit Jared Cook for a 38-yard touchdown just a couple minutes into the game.
He eventually hit Cook for another touchdown, this one for 26 yards in the first quarter.
There was talk around the Saints that Drew Brees might have seen his best days. Talk that speculated whether or not it was time for Brees to hang it up.
I can, and happily so, confirm for you that Drew still has it! He threw for 349 yards and 5 touchdowns without any turnover on his part. This was his best game of the year, proving he is not ready for retirement talks just yet.
To add, he lost what was his second-best target of the day, Jared Cook, in the first half.
He also kept his bid for beating Brady to the touchdown record alive and well. Brees is currently at 520 after this week and Brady is at 517. They are both racing to beat Peyton Mannings, who has 539. After this game, Brees is in full control of that record.
