The NFC showdown between the No. 1 New Orleans Saints and the No. 3 San Francisco 49ers did not disappoint. Here are our rapid game reviews and reactions.

With a matchup that we were expecting to be a battle between two defenses turned out to be a showdown between two powerful offenses. The defenses got exposed all day long — mostly in the secondary. The offenses on both teams were having a field day throwing and rushing. This game proved to be more of an offensive matchup. Either way, the New Orleans Saints did all they could to pull out the victory; it just didn’t happen.

This game was all about big plays — especially with San Francisco. They averaged 16 yards per play in the first quarter if that gives you an idea. The game was all about big plays until halftime happened and both teams adjusted their strategies.

The second half was much of the same as the two teams traded blows. The NFC championship would a lightning matchup if these two teams were to meet again.

The 49ers did travel very well from what we noticed. However, the New Orleans fans showed out for their city and became a big part of this game. It was said to have the atmosphere of a Super Bowl-caliber game in the dome.

Let’s get into the diagnosis of this NFC top-seeded matchup. We will review the first and second halves and give you our rapid reactions to today’s 48-46 loss.
