Looking back and predicting the New Orleans Saints at the midway mark

Right now, and looking forward
So the Saints come through the second quarter of the season unscathed, bringing the overall record to 7-1.
Teddy Bridgewater filled in remarkably well for Drew Brees until the Arizona game. Murray will hopefully now be more a part of the offense after showing out over the last three games. We will be getting our injured players back now on offense, so the bye was a great time for us.

Brees now has had another week to heal and get more prepared. We will have Kamara back, as well as Tre’Quan Smith and Jared Cook, so the offense should be clicking at full pace.
Defensively, the Saints need to just continue doing what they are doing. After the first two weeks (and the not so great second half of the Seattle game), the last five weeks of Saints defense has been legendary.
I’d venture a guess that there hasn’t been any defense better over the last five weeks. Some comparable – New England and San Francisco have been playing very well on defense. But I’d put the Saints defense up against those right now.
Our cornerbacks have been outstanding over that stretch, and our defensive front can play with anyone. And Vonn Bell may be the most valuable player that no one recognizes. While Marshon Lattimore has been tremendous and Cam Jordan has finally begun to get the national recognition he deserves, Bell has been a complete stud.
All great pieces to a great group.
