Do you know what’s better than giving up draft picks for a player? Just straight-up signing them. That’s the reality facing the New Orleans Saints and former Cowboys standout receiver Dez Bryant.

Bryant was, once upon a time, arguably the league’s best receiver. After the 2017 season, Bryant opted not to return to Dallas. The former All-Pro signed with New Orleans last season but tore his Achilles before getting in a regular-season game.

That last season in 2017, Bryant was just over 150 yards shy of his fourth 1,000-yard season. Now, coming off an Achilles injury, Bryant’s been both engaged with teams and posting workout videos showing him at full strength.

He’s ready to make an NFL comeback, and he has a proven track record of success. Better yet, the Saints showed interest in his last season so know what to expect upon his arrival in New Orleans. That said, there are numerous reasons the Saints should sign Bryant.

He could be an elite threat on the edge, he’s theoretically free in terms of the Saints wouldn’t have to trade for him, and he’s already familiar with the franchise.
