5 cornerbacks the saints should look at before trade deadline

The New Orleans Saints could be looking to add a veteran cornerback with the NFL trade deadline looming. Here are five potential targets.

Top Saints nickel cornerback P.J. Williams has been suspended for two games after violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy this week. Patrick Robinson, 32, is the most likely candidate to fill in for the starting nickel cornerback role while the 26-year-old Williams is sidelined.

Robinson once nabbed three and four interceptions in consecutive seasons for the Saints, but that was more than seven years ago. He is a fitting option to start in the interim and a decent bet to help make a Super Bowl run.

Opposite of Marshon Lattimore is Eli Apple. The former first-round NFL draft pick has not lived up to where he was once selected, but some could argue that’s because the Giants reached for him. The Saints received Apple via a trade with the Giants in 2018, and he has been decent in spots, but not so much in many others.

There are five NFL cornerbacks we will review, each of them differing with age, maturity and salary options. If The Saints are serious about getting the second cornerback position set, these are some great options to consider.
