3 reasons the New Orleans Saints should have interest in Ben Watson

Former New Orleans Saints’ tight end Ben Watson was just cut by the Patriots. Should his former team have interest? Here are three reasons they should.
The New Orleans Saints aren’t necessarily in the market to be picking up players, but if there is one position that they may look to deepen, it’s tight end. Sean Payton made a surprising move to keep on two tight ends, cutting Alize Mack and Dan Arnold.
Well, if Payton wants, he may be able to get a former player back. Ben Watson, a 6-foot-3 tight end that spent three seasons in New Orleans, was just released by the New England Patriots. The veteran seemed pretty disappointed by his release.
Watson tweeted out that he was “beyond disappointed.”
The God of victory is also God in failure. I gave my all, but it was not enough to earn a spot on the @Patriots roster. I’m beyond disappointed but even more upset for my family who has supported me with all the love a husband and father could ask for. They are my heroes. Rom 8:28

Watson, 38, started four games for the Saints last season. He’s still a capable tight end and will likely only consider championship-contending teams to join. That said, it’s almost guaranteed that if the Saints want him back, he’d return.
Should they want him back though? Let’s dive into three reasons why the Saints should have at least some interest in Watson.
