New Orleans Saints MVPs: Week 5 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Michael Thomas
The trusty Michael Thomas has been showing exactly why the Saints opted to extend him this past offseason. Thomas has built a relationship with quarterback Teddy Bridgewater and is clearly the target of choice.

On Sunday, Thomas went for 11 receptions on 13 targets. He also notched 182 receiving yards and 2 receiving touchdowns. All four of those numbers were team highs. They were actually all either tied for the season-high or the season-high for Thomas as well.
According to ESPN’s Mike Triplett, Thomas knows it’s what he must do for this team after that record-breaking extension.
“We’re getting later in the season. I have to be that guy I say I am. I have to make people miss, I have to catch the ball, I have to score points. That’s what they have me here for.”
Thomas has been exactly what the Saints have needed through over a quarter of the season, and given his dominance even with a non-Drew Brees quarterback leading the way, there’s no reason to expect a drop-off anytime soon.
This dominance is here to stay.
