Deonte Harris rewrote the narrative of his season

Earlier this season, Deonte Harris had a few brutal mistakes. After calling for a fair catch and still returning the ball, Harris’ start to the season wasn’t ideal for the rookie. He’s also fair caught a few balls that he should’ve likely returned.

Those minute mistakes didn’t matter to the Saints though. They kept faith in the young speedster, and against the Seahawks, his punt return touchdown to give the Saints their first lead was a game-changer.

After making the first two defenders miss, Harris seemingly used his speed to go untouched into the end zone. Here’s the video of Harris’ first career touchdown.

The 21-year-old that went to Assumption College and signed as an undrafted free agent was able to find a home with New Orleans. Instead of allowing a player like Ted Ginn Jr. to be the full-time returner, the Saints opted to keep Harris and give him the honor.

The Saints knew Harris was special, deeming him one of the most “prolific” returners in NCAA history. Now, he’s proving it, and hopefully, he’ll continue to get points on the board for New Orleans throughout the season.
