Teddy Bridgewater

The Saints will be starting Teddy Bridgewater for the first time this season due to Brees’ thumb injury. This will be Bridgewater’s first meaningful start since 2015. He started Week 17 last season after the Saints had clinched the NFC.

He did also get in last week against the Rams, an extremely difficult game to jump into cold. The Saints were blown out in a rematch of the 2019 NFC Championship Game. That said, all eyes will be on Bridgewater this week.

He chose to stay in New Orleans this offseason, and he needs to prove that he’s the future of this team. Back in 2015, prior to missing the entire 2016 season, Bridgewater led the Vikings to an 11-5 record.

With similar offensive firepower, he should be able to find success with the Saints, and this game should set the tone for the next month and a half. This will be the second or third-toughest defense that he’ll face in the next six games.

Will the Miami, Florida native be able to keep the Saints afloat or will he stumble in his first chance at meaningful minutes?
