Jared Cook

The New Orleans Saints added a lethal offensive force in Jared Cook this offseason. He’s a 6-foot-5 menace that’s coming off his best professional seasons and has one of the most accurate quarterbacks tossing him the ball.

Cook was 104 yards of his first 1,000 season. Last season, he also saw his first 100-plus targets in a season. Overall, Cook elevated his game and was put in an offense that utilized his strengths. Now, he’s back in that scenario.

Drew Brees and the Saints offense made Jimmy Graham the best fantasy option at tight end for a few seasons in the early 2010s. After Graham left New Orleans, he crumbled as fantasy option rather quickly.

It’s in reverse order now. Cook, who was utilized well in Oakland, may get a chance to become a top tight end target in 2019. However, some drafts have Cook going far too high. In one of my recent drafts, Cook was secured in the fourth round.

The top options this season are Zach Ertz, Travis Kelce and George Kittle. The gap after those three and the field is the size of the Atlantic Ocean. Cook is a foundational piece of this offense now, but he’s certainly not supposed to be picked in the top five rounds.
