Saints key players among strongest in NFL at their positions

NEW ORLEANS, LA – DECEMBER 24: Saints DE Cameron Jordan /

Defensive line, linebackers

Cameron Jordan. Period. Full stop. If you took the best of just about every great defensive end and put them together, you’d get Cameron Jordan. He’s not the “speed” rusher like other ends or outside linebackers have been but quarterbacks know he’s there, always.

And what’s better about Jordan than most of those glamour boy EDGE guys is that he can actually defend his position. Those guys are rushers, Jordan is the total package.

You won’t run at him, you can’t run around him, and good luck trying to throw it in his direction. Jordan is finally starting to get some respect in this league as the great force he is. Starter anywhere.

We have not had a linebacker force since Jonathan Vilma came from the New York Jets. So we went back to the Jets and got another linebacker force in Demario Davis. “Double-D” can thump, drop into coverage, play sideline to sideline. He’s only been with us for a season, but it’s obvious he’s got the goods.

Where are they now. 4 backs taken before Kamara. light

This one is tough to consider. There are other linebackers in the league who can play. Davis may not be the number one linebacker in the game, but I think he starts for all but maybe four to five of the teams in the NFL and is a stud.
