Round 6, Pick 187: Peter Kalambayi, OLB/ILB, Stanford
Kalambayi played under Davis Shaw’s impressive defensive mind for four seasons with the Cardinals. He accumulated 14.5 sacks in a three year span at Stanford. His 40-yard dash time at the combine was an amazing 4.57, one of the fastest of the linebackers. He’s built and meant to be a pass rusher, but he’s missing the football instincts at the position. Any sort of pass rush potential opposite of Cam Jordan is promising for New Orleans, so this pick can be very smart. The Saints could try him out in camp, and see his true potential in whichever position fits Shepard the best.
Round 7, Pick 219: Bentley Spain, OT, North Carolina
Bentley Spain is the largest player in this extra-large Mock Draft. Spain stands at 6’ 6”-tall, 310-pound experience college player. He was the only offensive lineman for UNC to start all 13 games in 2016. He needs a lot of work to contribute on an NFL roster, but an extra body on the line for camp won’t hurt at all. Spain could be a diamond in the rough for a heavily-used New Orleans offense.
