If the Saints can land Carlos Watkins, they would have a player from both the national champion and runner up. Watkins has been part of the Clemson squad that finally broke through last year beating Alabama for the title. He stands at 6-foot-3 and weighing 312 lbs. Watkins has 50 tackles last year and 13.5 for a loss.

Watkins can help the defensive line with his pure athleticism. Watkins really needs to play snaps to get the most out of his ability. This could be a challenge. He’s got all the abilities and movements to be a good player in the NFL. Great instincts of smelling out plays and knowing how to get from one side to another.

The knock on him is his consistency. He has more weight in his upper body and can sometimes struggle with double teams. With the right coaching and motivation, Watkins could work himself in a prominent role.
