Dayton Brown’s Saints Mock Draft 1.0

Round 3, Pick 103: Duke Riley, LB, LSU
I know exactly what you’re thinking: why would the Saints wait until the 3rd round to pick a linebacker? Shouldn’t they use an earlier pick for that? The answer is yes and no. No, because the Saints signed a few stud backers this offseason, but yes because half of the corp has injury problems, and none are outstandingly great.
Riley would be a fantastic weak side linebacker for the Saints’ 4-3 set. His senior year was stellar, as Riley compiled over 90 tackles. His alma mater is also a great sign, as LSU continues to produce fantastic NFL talent. Riley would almost be a steal if he is taken at this slot, and most signs seem to point to him being available at the 103rd spot. Like Barnett to the defensive line, Riley very well could be the missing piece New Orleans’ linebacking corp desperately needs for this year and beyond.
