Round 1, Pick 11: Derek Barnett, DE, University of Tennessee

Barnett comes in out of UT as one of the top defensive line prospects in this draft. The 6’3″, 268 pound edge rusher had an impressive combine to compliment his amazing college career. Barnett would fit perfectly across All-Pro Cameron Jordan and would make an immediate impact pressuring opposing quarterbacks. He left college as the all-time leader in sacks (34.0) at Tennessee. He passed Hall of Famer Reggie White for that honor, adding to the impressiveness of the feat.

Barnett would be the second defensive lineman in a row to be taken in the 1st round by the Saints. He seems to be the missing puzzle piece to make that front-4 a brick wall. If he’s there at 11, the Saints have to take him (unless Rueben Foster is somehow still on the board).
