Report: Saints to add veteran fullback John Kuhn

Per ESPN NFL Nation Reporter Rob Demovsky, the New Orleans Saints are bringing in former Green Bay Packers fullback John Kuhn.
The news broke Friday evening, and looks to be a done deal per agent Kevin Gold and multiple reports. In a statement from Gold, “John is excited to start a new chapter but will miss the love and support of the Packers fan base and his teammates.”

John Kuhn, who will turn 34 in September, has been in the NFL since 2006. He got his start with the Pittsburgh Steelers, but memorably made his mark in the league with the Packers from 2007-2016. He’s only missed three games since 2010, and played in all 32 games for the Packers in the past two seasons. Kuhn was Pro Football Focus’ No. 7 blocking fullback last year.
Back in May, it was reported that the Packers were moving on from Kuhn. The four-time Pro Bowl fullback played last season on a 1-year veteran minimum deal for $870,000. He’s appeared in 148 career games, rushing for 15 touchdowns and catching 8 touchdowns in his career. The longtime fan favorite of ‘The Cheeseheads’ also has two Super Bowl rings, and is widely known for the ‘Kuhhhhnnnnn’ chant when he gets the ball.
It absolutely makes sense for the move, as fullback Austin Johnson was carted off the field on Thursday during practice.
