Wild Card: There’s hope for others and have backup plan

Have you ever thought about the Saints’ shift in philosophy may cater more to another quarterback? Perhaps there’s a belief that all the player signings, draft strategies, and scheme emphasis is catered to give one last realistic shot for Brees to bring a championship to New Orleans. As much as you want to dismiss it, this could be the last ride for Drew Brees.

How in the world would the Saints ever move on? Realistic free agent options, whether you want to go there or not, are only Kirk Cousins and Tyrod Taylor. It’s entirely possible that either of these quarterbacks could be on the team’s radar, but again, it’s way too early to even go there.

However, for the sake of things, what if? What if the Saints would rather turn to a quarterback that’s 10 years younger than Brees and can grow with Sean Payton for the next several years? What if Garrett Grayson gets his act together to prove that he’s the heir apparent to take over for Drew Brees? What if the Saints get all of their wishes out of this season and feel like they can survive life after Brees?
