Mitchell Loewen, DE, Arkansas

When you think about Mitchell Loewen, think of Kordell Stewart and multiply that again. At Arkansas, Loewen played six different positions: linebacker, tight end, fullback, offensive tackle, defensive tackle, and defensive end. I can’t exactly recall a prospect that has had that much versatility in quite some time. Don’t believe me? Just take a look at some of these videos.

Loewen suffered broken foot against LSU in mid-November, which ended his senior season. However, a video from April shows a player that has really recovered. He may be listed as a defensive end, but has proven to be a versatile defensive lineman. Perhaps Loewen is another ‘tweener’ in the making, but the fact is that the Saints could use him in several different positions.
