Michael Thomas is the newest player to land down on the bayou after the New Orleans Saints selected the Ohio State wide receiver in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft with the 47th overall pick.

Michael Thomas was the best receiver on the board when the New Orleans Saints picked in the second round.  With Marques Colston gone, the pick is not a surprise, but some may want to argue there were/are other needs, and that’s very true.

However, At 6-foot-3, 212 pounds, Michael Thomas brings excellent size, good speed and quality athleticism. He could be the answer to the vacancy left by Colston and an immediate contributor in the red zone.

Displaying good length, ball skills and separation ability, Michael Thomas can line up both inside and on the outside opposite the smaller Brandin Cooks.  Thomas, with time, has a ceiling that could eventually help him develop into a true No. 1.

With Cooks, Thomas, and Willie Snead, the Saints now have an excellent trio of wider receivers for the the present time and post-Drew Brees era.
