Round 4, Pick 14

Previous choice: Deiondre Hall, CB, Northern Iowa

We’d be fooling ourselves to believe that 2016 will produce a completely healthy Keenan Lewis (multiple surgeries) and Damian Swann (three concussions). There’s also uncertainty for P.J. Williams, who will presumably see the first action of his career. If that wasn’t enough reason, then the recent release of Vinnie Sunseri makes a selection of Northern Iowa’s Deiondre Hall appealing.

Standing at 6-foot-2, 199 pounds, Hall has drawn a comparison to Los Angeles Rams cornerback Trumaine Johnson. His press coverage is fueled by his long reach, and exhibits natural instincts for ball location. Hall was key in run support for the Panthers, contributing 82 tackles for their defense.

Here’s where it becomes intriguing for the Saints, who could use a safety in their arsenal with the loss of Rafael Bush. The Panthers also used him from the safety slot. He’d need to add some weight to become a more effective safety, but the black and gold could have the luxury of killing two birds with one stone.

Be sure to check out our sister site, Big Easy Believer, for a full analysis on Hall.
