2016 NFL Mock Draft: All-time New Orleans Saints players edition

The New Orleans Saints organization has seen some fantastic players come in and out since the franchise kicked off in 1967. We use some of those greats for a twist on a 2016 NFL mock draft.
With the 2016 NFL Draft quickly approaching, mock drafts will continue to be in abundance. But today, we give our readers a full first-round 2016 NFL mock draft with a creative twist by using only all-time great New Orleans Saints players, ranging from current stars like Drew Brees and Cam Jordan, to Hall-of-Fame names like Rickey Jackson and Willie Roaf.
Without further ado, let’s get started. The Los Angels Rams are up first, and they are in the market for a franchise quarterback…..
51.
The Rams made the trade all the way from 15 to 1 to get a quarterback, and they get him here. In reality, they are hoping that quarterback turns out to be Drew Brees, the greatest quarterback in New Orleans Saints history and a future Hall-of-Famer. Brees would finally give the Rams an offense that can help out their talented defense. The weapons at receiver and tight end aren’t ideal, but Brees has proven time and time again that he can elevate anyone’s game. Plus, he gets to lean on Todd Gurley and the stout running game. Drew Brees with a good running game and strong defense is something to fear.
. QB. Purdue. Drew Brees. 1. player
OLB. Pittsburgh. Rickey Jackson. 2. player. 53.
The Browns have been linked to both of the top quarterbacks in this year’s class, but now, word is that they could pass on taking one altogether. They have paid a bunch of guys to crunch numbers and do some advanced statistics, and believe it or not, quarterback is not their biggest need right now. So, instead of forcing Archie Manning here, they go with the best defensive player in Saints history. Jackson and Paul Kruger would make a nice duo on the edges, helping out a secondary that lost two starting safeties. The Browns will gladly take a Hall-of-Fame player.

13.
If the Chargers are ecstatic about the Titans trading out of the first pick and now having a shot to draft Laremy Tunsil, just think how happy they would be if they were able to take Willie Roaf. The Chargers offensive line was an injury riddled wreck last season. They had more front five combinations than any other team in the NFL, and the team suffered dearly because of it. Roaf is a Hall of Fame tackle, big and strong as a bear, nimble as a ballerina. He is the total package and Philip Rivers would love to have him.
. OT. Louisiana Tech. Willie Roaf. 3. player
