The ‘nearly there’ 7-Round New Orleans Saints mock draft

Round 1, Pick 12
Previous choice: Laquon Treadwell, WR, Ole Miss
Players left on board: Ezekiel Elliot, RB (Ohio State), Carson Wentz, QB (North Dakota State), A’Shawn Robinson, DT (Alabama); Sheldon Rankins, DT (Louisville); Darron Lee, LB (Ohio State); Laquon Treadwell, WR (Ole Miss)
While Sheldon Rankins tends to be the popular selection for most draft analysts, I found it necessary to look to at the bigger picture for the New Orleans Saints at No. 12. With the recent addition of veteran defensive tackle Nick Fairley, what could make the team’s defensive line really terrifying? Adding Baylor’s Andrew Billings.
The 6-foot-1, 311-pound mammoth could prove to be a tandem with Fairley, and better yet give the Saints something they’ve clearly been missing over the past several seasons. Fixing an atrocious run defense starts with the men up front, and Billings is one of the strongest prospects in the draft. He has the mean streak you’re looking for that’s coupled with the ability to dominate once he gets going. He has powerful hands, and isn’t afraid to plug the trenches.
Perhaps one of the most appealing things that not many bring up is that he’s only 21. A franchise defensive tackle who could easily flourish at the pro level is a win-win for the Saints.
If you’re still not sold, then film tells all.
