According to NFL Insider Rand Getlin, the New Orleans Saints are holding a workout for California Golden Bears tight end Stephen Anderson on Monday.

Anderson (6-foot-2, 230 pounds) certainly impressed at Cal’s Pro Day, turning in a 4.60 second 40-yard dash and a 4.13 second 20-yard shuttle. Had he ran in the NFL Combine, Anderson would have had the top time in those respective categories. However, Anderson was a top performer in the vertical jump (38.0 inches) and broad jump (119.0 inches).

Now, before you start making assumptions, understand that Anderson may be listed as a tight end, but functions more as a wide receiver. In fact, NFL Draft Scout lists Stephen Anderson as the No. 65 wide receiver.

In college, he was able to get a lot of separation from opposing linebackers and was able to stretch the field for quarterback Jared Goff. Although his numbers weren’t the most impressive on paper during his last two years of school (87 catches, 1,135 yards, 7 TD), it was good enough to receive an honorable mention for All-Pac 12 honors in each year.

Take a look at some of his film:

Anderson’s projection is uncertain right now, but his strong gifts of athleticism and versatility could make him one to watch during the last day of the NFL Draft. He’d be a priority undrafted free agent, if anything. He’s also received interest from the Houston Texans, Tennessee Titans, and Atlanta Falcons.
