The ‘early’ 7-Round New Orleans Saints mock draft

Round 5, Pick 13
Previous choice: Maurice Canady, CB, Virginia
After selecting Grand Valley State’s premiere pass rusher in the seventh-round last month, defensive end Matt Judon has risen on draft charts after a strong Combine performance and Pro Day. The red shirt Senior dominated Division II football in 2015 by turning in 20.0 sacks, 23.5 tackles for loss, three forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries.
Judon took down many awards for the Lakers, including GLIAC defensive lineman of the year. An estimated 26 NFL teams were in attendance for Judon’s Pro Day, so he’s no longer one of the best kept secrets in the draft.
Let’s not be mistaken, DII football typically doesn’t give you the type of offensive tackle caliber that you’ll see in the NFL. However, it’s hard to ignore that Judon has very desirable traits both physically and mentally. He would likely find himself as a developmental project with whatever team selects him. Check out some of the tape on Judon, and see why he’d be a good choice for the New Orleans Saints.
