New Orleans Saints free agency: Veteran defensive end crop growing

The Los Angeles Rams recently released longtime defensive end Chris Long, whose career hit a bit of snag largely in part to injuries during the past two seasons. However, his game could be revitalized under a new team and coaching staff.
Long, who turns 31 in late March, saw his best years from 2010-13, where he racked up 41.5 sacks and five forced fumbles over a four-year stretch. He may not be the flashiest pass rusher in free agency, but he could be a good fit for the cap-stricken (currently and to an extent) New Orleans Saints.
Long is better than anything else the Saints have to offer on their defensive line not named Cam Jordan. He could also be a solid little addition to the chemistry in the locker room, which is something Sean Payton certainly nests on.
