The New Orleans Saints go heavy on the defensive side of the ball in this mock draft following NFL Scouting Combine activities in Indianapolis.

Defense wins championships, right?  Usually, that is the case.  If the New Orleans Saints had even an average defense, they’d be a playoff team, as they still have one of the NFL’s top offenses and an elite quarterback in Drew Brees.

They’ve turned in three losing seasons in the past four years, highlighted by historically bad play on the defensive side of the ball, bad draft picks, and questionable free agent signings.  They’ll have a chance to do some much-needed upgrading both in the approaching free agency period (March 9) and the 2016 NFL Draft, which kicks off April 28.

The New Orleans Saints are set to pick at No. 12 overall in the first round.  In a draft loaded with defensive talent, head coach Sean Payton and company will be given an intriguing crop of options.  With that said, let’s get this post-NFL combine mock draft underway.
