NFL Free Agency 2016: A New Orleans Saints shopping list

Name: Mark Barron
Position: OLB/SS
2015 team: St. Louis Rams
2015 cap hit: $2,362,704
Barron was drafted seventh overall as a safety in 2012 (Tampa Bay), but he was moved to weakside linebacker this past year and played exceptionally well. He led the Rams in tackles last year with 116 and is very athletic, which helps when covering tight ends and running backs. He is also very aggressive and loves to hit people.
With the recent news of incoming rookie Jaylon Smith might not being able to play this year and Myles Jack most likely being gone before the New Orleans Saints’ 12th pick, the weakside linebacker position is very scarce.
Su’a Cravens and Darron Lee are really the only two other players in the draft who could have an immediate impact at the position. So, instead of taking a chance in the draft and possibly not getting the weakside linebacker the Saints desperately need, why not grab Barron in free agency?
He is still very young at 26-years-old and would go along nicely with the other two young linebackers — Stephone Anthony and Hau’oli Kikaha. It won’t be easy to get Barron, as the Rams have made it one of their top priorities to resign him.
