NFL Free Agency 2016: A New Orleans Saints shopping list

Name: Damon Harrison
Position: DT
2015 team: New York Jets
2015 cap hit: $2.356 million
Nicknamed “Snacks”, Harrison is one of the top run-stuffing interior linemen in the NFL. He was named a Pro Football Focus All-Pro in 2015 in addition to winning PFF’s Best Run Defender Award. He went undrafted in 2012 but has shown that he deserves to get paid.
He is only 27-years-old and was born in Louisiana, so maybe that could help the New Orleans Saints get him to come back to his home state. Harrison will not be easy to get, so expect many teams to target him. He likely won’t come cheap either.
Harrison is known for playing the nose tackle in a 3-4 defense, but he has played defensive tackle in a 4-3 defense as well. The Jets switched to a 4-3 defense against the Dallas Cowboys this year with Harrison playing defensive tackle, and he played well against one of the best offensive lines in the NFL.
I don’t think he would have any problems playing defensive tackle for the Saints if they remain in their current 4-3 scheme. Having Harrison’s run-stuffing ability would help the defense tremendously, and Stephone Anthony would love playing with that big man in front of him.
