New Orleans Saints Mock Draft: Black and Gold Reloaded

Round 5, Pick 140
A big-bodied receiver at 6-foot-3, 209 pounds, with long arms is exactly what Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints offense needs, and that is exactly what Cayleb Jones is. He is one of those red-zone guys who can go up and get the 50/50 balls and come down with it.
He is a playmaker and would fit in perfectly on the Saints offense. He isn’t the fastest guy, but he runs good routes and has good hands. He had 1,019 yards and nine touchdowns his sophomore year, and then 904 yards with five touchdowns his junior year.
Having Jones with Brandin Cooks, Willie Snead, and an emerging Brandon Coleman would be a nice, young, talented wide receiver corps for Brees to throw to. I’m interested to see how Jones does at the combine. He is one of those guys who could bring his stock up a lot if he has a good 40-yard-dash time.
Hopefully he doesn’t wow too many scouts and the Saints can get a steal in the fifth round. He also has good heritage with his dad playing in the NFL for 10 years and his uncle being former Saints quarterback Jeff Blake.
Some negatives about Jones and why he would fall to the fifth round is because he isn’t as physical as you would hope he would be with his size, and he also broke another student’s jaw while he was at the University of Texas (before Arizona), which was considered a misdemeanor.
That was back in 2012 and hasn’t been in trouble since. He is a very talented receiver and hasn’t reached his full potential yet. He would definitely be worth a fifth-round pick and could be a steal in this year’s draft.
