Name: Denver Kirkland
School: Arkansas
Size: 6-foot-4, 335 LBS
Arm length: 34 5/8 inches
Hands: 9 5/8 inches
Projected round: 4

Starting off at guard but making the transition to tackle (where he’s listed) in 2015 on one of the most tantalizing offensive lines in college football, Denver Kirkland will be asked to move back to guard in the NFL, and I’m willing to bet on that.

His lack of fluidity and quickness on his feet make him more suited for the inside where athleticism isn’t a major necessity, just like we discussed with Garnett and Alexander.

Kirkland boasts excellent size, however, he lacks consistency in both power and balance and did not participate at the Senior Bowl, which are all reasons he could slide down the draft board to the mid to late rounds.  A strong combine could save him.  He’ll be a project in development, but he has the potential to become a great blocker in the NFL sooner rather than later, and even a difference maker by the time the regular season rolls around.

Kirkland’s ceiling is very high, and we haven’t seen his best.  With the right coaching, the kid could flourish.  He’s one of my more underrated guard prospects, and the New Orleans Saints could get a real steal here.
