Name: Cody Whitehair
School: Kansas State
Size: 6-foot-4, 301 LBS
Arm length: 32 3/8 inches
Hands: 10 1/8 inches
Projected round: 2

Guards typically don’t get drafted too high, but Whitehair could be an exception, as he is arguably the best among the incoming rookie class.  There is a chance he goes in the first round, but if he’s available in the second for the New Orleans Saints, it’ll be tough to pass — he should become a generous payoff very quickly.

With excellent athleticism and versatility (experience at both guard and tackle), toughness, and power up front in the trenches, Whitehair has the ability to excel in the NFL immediately.

With question marks surrounding the consistency of left guard Tim Lelito in addition to the release of veteran Jahri Evans, the Saints could without question use Whitehair’s talents on the offensive line.  It’s assumed they’ll address one of those voids in free agency — when it comes to an aging Drew Brees, New Orleans must find a proven veteran before taking a gamble in the draft.

Whitehair was a four-year starter and team captain in 2015 at K-State.  His hard work, relentless motor, and leadership qualities would be an ideal fit for the Black and Gold both on the field and in the locker room.
