The recent news of Brandon Browner‘s impending release could trigger the New Orleans Saints to search for another cornerback in free agency. While I believe their best option would be Trumaine Johnson and have some other players returning to the mix, a role player won’t be a bad thing to search for.
Enter Brandon Boykin, a slot cornerback who would make an immediate impact. Boykin was traded by the Philadelphia Eagles for the Pittsburgh Steelers’ 5th Round pick last year, and played in all 16 games for the team. In fact, Boykin hasn’t missed a game in his entire 4-year career.
Boykin’s role in 2015 saw him take part in 407 snaps for the Steelers, which included the playoffs. He had extensive action from Week 15 on. In the regular season, Boykin was targeted 23 times. Opposing quarterbacks had a 69.1 quarterback rating against him, while receivers finished with 15 receptions for 170 yards. Boykin also didn’t allow a touchdown, and had one interception.
