NFL Draft prospect: Tajae Sharpe
Size: 6-foot-2, 189 LBS
My round projection: 3
Another underrated prospect, Sharpe has good length and hands, quick feet, and is a great route-runner. The New Orleans Saints like character players, and Sharpe is a great fit in that department as well.
He’s a bit underweight and lacks the ideal strength, hands and ball skills to consistently overpower and contest the opposition. However, according to NFL.com, he takes coaching well, and the Saints have an excellent staff to help him improve his weaknesses.
His small hands and thin build could scare away coaches and scouts in the early rounds, but Sharpe’s high ceiling could have certain teams intrigued, including the Saints.
Sharpe was the go-to man at UMass, breaking numerous school records including single-season receptions, career receptions, and career receiving yards. One might say he was the Marques Colston of UMass?
Sharpe finished his senior year with a staggering 11 catches for 1,319 yards and five touchdowns, posting six double-digit catch games and six games with at least 138 yards receiving.
