Stop what you’re doing and take a minute to go vote New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees as the FedEx Air Player of the Year.

Drew Brees is one of three quarterbacks to be up for the award along with New England’s Tom Brady and Arizona’s Carson Palmer. This season saw Brees lead the NFL in passing yards (4,870) and 32 touchdowns (T-7th). Of the three nominees, Brees was the most accurate at 68.3 percent on more passing attempts. Despite missing a game, Brees went over 4,000 passing yards for the 10th consecutive season, which is the highest in NFL history. Brees also finished with his lowest interception total (11) since 2009.

Brees’ 2015 season was highlighted by a 505 yard, 7 touchdown performance against the New York Giants on November 1, 2015. The Saints won a thrilling 52-49 victory on a last-second Kai Forbath field goal.

Brees, who was the subject of carrying a washed up label by many media outlets heading into the season, overcame a serious shoulder injury and a torn plantar fascia in his right foot that he toughed out to play ‘for his guys’. Although the New Orleans Saints finished with a disappointing 7-9 season, they won 3 out of their last 4 contests.

Sadly, Brees wasn’t selected to the 2016 Pro Bowl, but that could change with some of the quarterbacks in the playoff race.

FedEx will make a generous $50,000 donation to the American Red Cross in honor of the Player of Year, which is selected by fans. The Ground Player of the Year candidates are Minnesota’s Adrian Peterson, Tampa Bay’s Doug Martin, and St. Louis’ Todd Gurley.
