Kevin Williams may be in his first year with the New Orleans Saints, but come Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the veteran defensive tackle will be playing in his 200th career game.

It’s been a long journey for defensive tackle Kevin Williams.  Six Pro Bowls and five First-Team All-Pro selections later, he’s playing in the latter end of his career for the New Orleans Saints.

A first-round pick (No. 9 overall) out of Oklahoma State’s Les Miles era, Williams played his first eleven seasons for the Minnesota Vikings from 2003-2013, missing just five games and becoming a staple on one of the better defensive lines in the game at the time.  He earned a spot on the NFL 2000s All-Decade Team.

Kevin Williams parted ways with the Vikings in 2014, signing with the Seattle Seahawks where he became an NFC Champion for the first time.  Of course, he barely lost out on the conference title in 2009 after Minnesota fell short to the Saints during the Black and Gold’s historic march to the Super Bowl.

The Saints signed Williams this past offseason, and now in his 13th season, he is set to play in his 200th career game Sunday, which is 19th among active NFL players and second among defensive linemen currently with a team behind only Julius Peppers.

Now 35, Kevin Williams obviously isn’t the player he once was, but he has turned in a decent year with the Saints up to this point, totaling 27 tackles, two passes defended, two forced fumbles, as well as a blocked extra point this past Sunday, which linebacker Stephone Anthony recovered and returned for two points.  Williams is the second-highest graded player on defense for New Orleans this year, according to Pro Football Focus.

Heading into his 200th game, Williams has career totals of 520 tackles, 63 sacks, 67 passes defended, five interceptions, nine forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries.  Williams and the New Orleans Saints are back on the road for an NFC South divisional matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this Sunday for a 12:00 PM CT kickoff.
