We kick off the list with rookie Marcus Murphy. It’s not that I believe Murphy is a bad player, but he’s a player that is seriously in Sean Payton’s dog house. The 7th Round selection from Missouri showed some real flash during the preseason, and even broke the team’s special teams scoring drought with his punt return against the Carolina Panthers in Week 3. However, ball security issues presented to be a huge problem in consecutive games, but more so in the loss to the Tennessee Titans.
Essentially, Murphy has one job. Return and field kicks. He hasn’t been used on offense at all this season, but that could change with the injury to Mark Ingram. Murphy will really have to turn it on and impress Payton over the final four contests, or he’ll be a very expendable player that can be easily replaced in the 2016 NFL Draft.
