Marcus Murphy takes it to the house
Back in Week 3, the New Orleans Saints were up against something that had never happened in the Sean Payton era: playing a game without Drew Brees. Deadlocked at 10-10 to begin the 3rd quarter, the Panthers first possession of the half saw the Saints defense force a three and out. Rookie Marcus Murphy would find pay dirt for the first team in his professional career, taking a punt 74 yards to the house to take the lead. It was the Saints first special teams touchdown in over 4 years. Prior to Murphinator’s heroics, Darren Sproles was the last player to return a kick or punt back for a score in the 2011 season opener against the Green Bay Packers.
