Saying that the New Orleans Saints disappointed Sunday in Philadelphia would be a blatant understatement. There is no time for self-pity this week as the red-hot Atlanta Falcons travel to the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on Thursday to kick off week six of the NFL season. Let’s take a look at how our staff sees the games panning out.
Thursday Night Football 7.30 pm CT Atlanta Falcons (5-0) at New Orleans Saints (1-4)
After winning a fifth consecutive game thanks to a pick six in overtime, the Falcons look like the sure favorite in this NFC South matchup. Despite playing underwhelming in all three phases of the game, Dan Quinn’s men won; a feat the Saints do not seem capable of this year. Among the Saints issues were once again the lack of a consistent ground game, the yards allowed to a mediocre offense, turnovers at inopportune times….the list goes on, seemingly endless. The Black and Gold fail to take advantage of bad teams and play their best against talented but “softer” teams. This is bad news as the Falcons have established strength in the trenches, energy on defense and can take the top off defenses, courtesy of Matt Ryan and Julio Jones. Fellow Who Dats should not expect much in this game other than a Saints team showing pride but still falling short.
