The New Orleans Saints do not have the best history with developing linemen.  NFL draft busts like Johnathan Sullivan, Sedrick Ellis, and Charles Brown are still fresh in the minds of many fans, and for good reason.  But there are success stories to be found like Jahri Evans, Carl Nicks, and Will Smith – all of whom have Super Bowl rings and have been major contributors under head coach Sean Payton’s tenure.

As I continue looking at which New Orleans Saints veterans are in contract years and vying for that coveted “second contract” with the team that made them professionals, I’ve moved into the offensive and defensive linemen depth charts.  Padded practices are few and far between because it is still early in training camp, so evaluations of the team’s linemen on both sides of the ball are a little suspect.  But there are still takeaways to be had, so let’s get started:
