Breaking: Joe Morgan returns to the New Orleans Saints after reaching one-year deal

According to reports, the New Orleans Saints have decided to give wide receiver Joe Morgan another shot, signing him to a one-year deal.

Morgan was cut by the Saints in December after a pattern of off-field and locker room issues.  After suffering an ACL injury that forced him to miss all of 2013, a bounce-back year with fellow speed demons Kenny Stills and rookie Brandin Cooks was expected, but things don’t always go as planned.

Now, with Stills out of the mix, bringing back the once troubled Joe Morgan doesn’t seem like too bad of an idea.  He adds speed into the equation along with small size that can cause mismatches against some of the league’s lengthier defensive backs.  His presence on the practice field could also help the newly acquired corner in Brandon Browner, who stands at 6-foot-4 and often has trouble with some of the smaller, speedier wideouts.

In 20 total games played with the New Orleans Saints, Morgan has tallied 14 receptions for a staggering 33.6 yards per reception (471 yards) and three touchdowns.  Of course, I can guarantee you Sean Payton will have no problem kicking him to the curb again if he falls out of line.

With some promising young talent on the team looking to emerge in 2015, Joe Morgan will likely have to fight his way through training camp for a final roster spot.
