Report: LB Junior Galette on the Saints Trading Block with Curtis Lofton

Wednesday afternoon continues to get more hectic in the Who Dat Nation, as it is being reported that the New Orleans Saints are looking to shop LB Junior Galette.

John Middlekauff, a contributor to Comcast Sports, says he’s been made aware of the news.  So far today, safety Jarius Byrd has been cleared for 2015, LB Curtis Lofton is reportedly being shopped and RB Pierre Thomas is being released.  The Philadelphia Eagles are also showing interest in soon-to-be free agent RB Mark Ingram.

Back to Junior Galette, the New Orleans Saints leading pass rusher found himself in some legal trouble earlier this year.  He was arrested in January on charges of domestic violence, which were dropped in late February, according to his attorney.

Galette was made defensive co-captain before the 2014 season began after a breakout performance in 2013.  His sack numbers, along with the rest of the team’s, took a decline this past season.

Junior Galette has been a bit of a headcase, and that’s not something Coach Sean Payton enjoys dealing with.

In an initial report last week by CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora, Coach Payton ‘expressed interest’ in parting ways with Galette, who totaled a career-high 45 tackles in 2014.  He also recorded ten sacks, two passes defended, three forced fumbles and two safeties — all solid numbers.  The question is, is somebody willing to absorb his contract and deal with his potential shenanigans?
