The New Orleans Saints made a giant splash in the 2014 free agent market, scooping up elite free safety Jairus Byrd.  Unfortunately, the former Buffalo Bills defensive back’s season was cut short after only four games after suffering a torn lateral meniscus in an early-October practice.

In his four games with the Saints, Jairus Byrd totaled 22 tackles, two passes defended and a forced fumble.  However, he tweeted Wednesday afternoon that he has officially been cleared for the 2015 season — his presence will be crucial in the help of getting the struggling defense back on track.

It is also being reported that the Philadelphia Eagles are showing an interest in soon-to-be free agent running back Mark Ingram.  Philly set up a trade with the Bills Tuesday afternoon that will send Pro Bowl RB LeSean McCoy to Buffalo in exchange for LB Kiko Alonso to join his former Oregon coach Chip Kelly.

The Saints will likely try their best to keep Ingram, but it will certainly not be an easy task with the club’s current salary cap position.
